2016 was a hell of a year for this family. The cell phone pictures in their album include hospital visits. There were hard times and sadness and stress. But they pulled through. The first page of their album lists all the things 2016 took from them, but ends with “But it didn’t take our love. Love wins!”
Indeed! When challenged with some of the hardest things, their loved pulled them through and made them stronger. Their friends and their family were there for them. And their solid love for each other was their rock.
I adore them.
I’ll start off this post with my favorite session of theirs from the year – their Day in the Life session. Please oh please take a moment to click play, because I’ll bet that with this little glimpse of their everyday, you’ll see all the little reasons they are so loved.
Their spring session was their son’s birthday at Huntington Park for the Clipper’s game! They celebrated his day surrounded by their great community of friends and family. And they got to run the bases after the game! For summer, we went to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. This next picture when the water stopped might just be my favorite from the whole year.
Fall was at the apple orchard at Lynd Fruit Farm. Wait. Maybe this one is my favorite. The transfer of caterpillar from one hand to another did not go as smoothly as planned. Flying before it has wings!
And winter was at Franklin Park Conservatory with their family. This is something I really love about Year in the Life – we can include events with family and friends. And what an amazing group of family and friends they have. I know they all helped them through the year. I seriously considered just writing “I FREAKING LOVE THIS FAMILY!” at the top of this post, and leaving it at that. Because goodness. I do. I feel crazy lucky that I got to spend some of 2016 with them, and that I am getting to do it all over again this year. It is going to be so sweet to see the comparison of things like the birthday party through the years. This year (2017), it was all about the preschool friends, and I can already see the fun differences between the two parties. Love watching this little guy grow!
We are currently working on their Year in the Life for the second year in a row. Year in the Life is a year of memories documented: four seasonal sessions and a Day in the Life session. At the end of the year, we put together an album with all of their sessions, plus their own personal cell phone pictures, any artwork they make, and some words that help tell their story. If this sounds like something you’d like, let’s start up a conversation here! Want to see another family’s experience? Check out this video!
