destined to be together… an engagement session in german village, columbus

So, I’ve been known to talk a lot about how my couples are meant to be together.  How they seem destined.

But what about when it seems like we’re meant to be together – like – the couple and me?  Is that weird?  Because, goodness, I feel it all the time.

This couple had me at “backpacking.”  There’s not much that unites people quite like backpacking stories.  But wait, there’s more!

The plan was to have a friend photograph their wedding, and it sadly fell through just a few weeks before the wedding.  So, thankfully, we had a mutual friend that brought us together; and thankfully, I had their wedding date available!

You can know this is true because I’m just getting around to blogging their engagement, and their wedding already happened a few weeks ago!  We signed a contract, did an engagement session, and had their wedding all in a three and a half week time span since when I first heard from them.  Phew!german village columbus ohio engagement session They were all, “Meet us in German Village.  We live there and spend a lot of our time there.  We’ll have drinks and walk around.”

And I was all: “Yes.”german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement sessionThey tell me: “The guys are wearing wooden bowties that Joe made with his dad.”

And I said: “Yes.  Of course they are.”german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session“We’re gonna have someone recite some parts from the Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage at the wedding, because we think it’s really important.”

Me: “Seriously?  Yes.  Yes, yes, yes!”  (secretly to self: “I love these two!”)german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session“And there’s gonna be an old car that I drive into the park (breakin’ the law).”

Me: “An old car… AND breakin’ the law?  Yes!  For goodness sake, yes!”german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement sessionMe: “What do you want most with your wedding pictures?”

“To look back and remember what it felt like.”

Me: “Um… yes.  Yes again.”german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement session german village columbus ohio engagement sessionLisa and Joe, thanks for saying “yes” right back!  I’d say I can hardly wait for your wedding, but I already was there and experienced it, and it was freaking wonderful!  (Post to come soon).  So excited to see you two live your lives together!
