They met on the curling ice, courted on the ice, and got engaged on the ice. So it was only appropriate that they should do their engagement session on the ice… Curlers of the world, DO NOT FREAK OUT about this next image. It was done safely and carefully, and no ice was harmed. Those of you who aren’t curlers and needed the education that I did: even the tiniest bit of body heat can totally wreck the ice. So this next image involved foam sheets, a ladder, awkward body positions, very fast moving, and some photoshop! And they rocked it. HA! That was my first curling joke. 🙂 Then, we were off to Prairie Oaks metro park, a place they often stroll through. I loved hearing all about the history of the park from them. They danced in the fields. But my favorite part of this whole session was heading out to their property. I mean, the future in that idea. The idea that they might live out their lives here (or at least a decent portion of it)… The idea that this land will one day look very different, and they will have been there for its change and its seasons. The idea that where they are dancing in these very pictures could one day be their kitchen, and that one day, they might come home from a long day and retrace those very steps with a kitchen dance – and not even know it. The idea that they will look at these same stars, these very same stars, through the years and continually marvel at their existence. What a beautiful idea, their future together.
