2014 rocked!

I’m not really a New Year’s kinda gal.  I love that I married a man who has Chinese roots, and adopted a daughter from China – an extra bonus of this means I get to celebrate Chinese New Year.  I can pretty much never get my shit together for the solar (Western) new year, but the lunar one, a month or so later?  That’s more my speed.

I spend a good chunk of my free time in January designing our yearly family album (You like how I made out like I’ve done this for years?  I’ve only done it once before).  It is finished and coming in the mail so soon – I can hardly wait to get my hands on that thing!  I made our first one last year, and it’s been perused countless times throughout the year.  I LOVE having a yearly album.  Love looking through the pictures from the whole year.

And I’ve chosen some favorites to share with you here. In order to not completely overwhelm you, I made myself follow some rules on this:

1. Only three pictures from each month.  There are only 36 pictures in this post, people (in my head, I hear wild cheering and a round of applause).  This was no easy task.

2. No pictures from vacations (that was a hard one to follow, because most of my favorites are from vacation, but it would have been too many).

3. Only pictures with my family in them – no extended family, friends, or photobombers.  This rule was purely to help me narrow down.

And that brings me full-circle around to YOU, dear reader.  Thank you.  Thank you for supporting me on this photographic/entrepreneurial endeavor of mine throughout the years.  Thank you for checking this out:)

(Also, a little secret about something in the works: I have been trying for a long time to think of a way to provide a similar yearly album for my clients, and I think I’ve finally got it!  Testing it out the first half of this year, and really excited to provide it for 2016!  I’ll be sharing some details in “The Everyday Adventurer” – go here to sign up!  Go!  Go now!  I’m so excited!!!  If you like the idea of a yearly album, but know you already have a lot on your plate, this will be a great way to make it happen!)

    Such a fun collection!

  3. You have such an amazing family, and such a precious gift of capturing your memories in photographs. I always get so caught up in catching other people’s moments, that I often forget to pick up my camera and photograph my own family memories. Thanks for reminding me how important that is!

  4. What a lovely set of images!! I love everything about this idea! =)

  5. That is really awesome that you do a yearly album. I have friends that also do this, I HAVE GOT TO START DOING THIS! It’s such a beautiful thing to do for your family. Loved so many of your images, you have a super cute family!

    • thank you! i used to see friends making yearly albums in the past and i said the same thing: I HAVE GOT TO START DOING THIS! – ha! i kept getting so caught up in needing to start from the beginning of my switch to digital, to catch up. finally last year, i just made the one for that year – my first one. hopefully someday i’ll catch up on those years before!

  6. Oh, how I loved this! A year so well captured. You have such talent for capturing not just a concrete moment, but the emotion of it too. That one where both the girls are on the rock and one is leaning into the other? GAH.
