adventures in striking muscle poses (quite a few of them) on your wedding day

sarah gee-8344Ok, a little disclaimer on this one.  I literally wanted to somehow make flip books a part of their wedding album.  These two and their wedding party were SO MUCH FUN!!!  They had all kinds of crazy sequenced ideas for funny pictures they wanted to take to go along with Maria and Anthony’s bodybuilding and Thor themes.  So I learned how to make gif’s (thank goodness for you, youtube).  I’m thinking this will be the only time you’ll see them on my site, but I just couldn’t hold back (scroll down to see them).  Enjoy!

Maria had told me ahead of time about this Icarus painting in the library, and how much she loves it.  I was thrilled to see she was getting ready in that room.  columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingLove their color scheme – orange and purple.  Come ON, that’s awesome.columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingAnd Anthony’s grandmother was the flower girl.  How sweet is that?columbus ohio orthodox weddingAnthony (and his mom) watching Maria walk down the aisle.columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingOrthodox weddings are steeped in so much beautiful tradition.  I love this about them.columbus ohio orthodox weddingOh, the laughing!columbus ohio orthodox weddingAnd the crying!columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingThen these two iron-pumping, body-building lovers had all their guests strike a muscle pose as they left the church.  Can quite honestly say I’ve never taken a picture like that before!columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingMaria crocheted her bouquet, and it had her grandmothers’ earrings sewn in.  Beautiful.columbus ohio orthodox weddingOur version of a damsel-in-distress (promise this girl doesn’t need any rescuing) movie poster for Thor! columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingAgain with the muscle poses!  Awesome!columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingOk, here it is.  The thing that took me hours somehow.  Enjoy!sgp2And another.  🙂sgp1So I was all, “Hey guys, go back there and just give a little walk towards me.”  And they were all, “Let’s kick and jump and shout instead!”  Again, awesome.columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingBy the power of their names combined, they become “Team DO.”  And the teamwork between these two is surely something wonderful!columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingMother/son dance was to “Happy” by Pharrel.  And were they ever happy!columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingThen they announced that there would be ice cream – neopolitan and rainbow sherbet – in lieu of cake, to honor grandparents.  Anthony teared up a little. columbus ohio orthodox weddingAnd there was his brother, right by his side, wiping off tears and pretending it was sweat.  columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingAnd then came dancing!!!columbus ohio orthodox weddingcolumbus ohio orthodox weddingWhy yes, there IS total double dutch jump rope in the next image.  With an invisible rope.  And she got tripped up, too.  🙂columbus ohio orthodox weddingTeam DO!!!  I will be forever chanting your name and cheering you on!  You guys rock, and are surrounded by some seriously fun and caring people.  So much love as you begin married life together, Mjolnir in hand!

That opening image cracks me up!

  11. YES. Just yes. 🙂 Love your work so much. You obviously know that your wedding party photos are great here, but my favorite photo of them all is the one of the couple dancing, captured through the window. Beautiful.

PS – I happen to LOVE animated GIFs and think you should continue working them into your blogs. I’ve seen it done by other photographers and am just totally enamored – for example, an animated GIF of the couple posed for a portrait, but maybe the wind is blowing her veil, or some tall grass around them…or a landscape shot of a shooting star…I definitely think they are creative and have their place in photography blogs!! (long comment, sorry!!!!)

  12. THANK YOU for your long comment – no need to apologize!!! i love your comments. that one through the window – i actually already had my lights set up elsewhere, as the dj thought their dance was going to be outside under the tent. at the last minute, it was inside and i was struggling with how to make an emotional image in that space. then i realized there was a great shot through the windows. sometimes, when i put extra thought into an image, i’m a little more proud of it. so thanks for noticing! 🙂 and the gif’s were pretty fun to make, i’ll admit!

  13. Ha! This couple looks like they were so much fun!! I love the Thor references (one of my favorite Marvel movies – duh!).
